• Rooms between Allgäu-style warmth and contemporary design
• Duravit as a part of the sensual experience of the room
• Culinary art with regional focus and clear signature
For Lena (@_stadtlandhaus) a worthwhile trip starts by letting go of the familiar. The further she travels into the Allgäu region, the more her everyday life fades into the background. High above Pfronten she reaches the Blaue Burg, a boutique hotel that places tranquility and wide-open spaces center stage.
Relaxed arrival
Every meter climbed affords an ever more impressive view of the Alpine panorama. This feeling is sustained on arrival at the Blaue Burg’s terrace: a welcome drink, clear mountain air, and the view of the summits make the very first moment one to remember. The building’s historical architecture reflects the region’s construction tradition and translates it into a contemporary design language. Natural wood, stone, and expansive windows forge a link between the interior spaces and the landscape, making the Alpine environment a firm feature of any stay at the hotel.
“Even the ride up here was a special moment. The Alps appear on the horizon and the feeling of leaving everyday life behind gets stronger with every meter climbed. I immediately felt as if I’d arrived as soon as we reached the Blaue Burg – thanks to the location and architecture alone.”

A room with a view
Conceived as a place of private retreat, the room named “Die 17” (The 17) is generously sized while also exuding coziness. The freestanding Luv bathtub from the designer bathroom supplier Duravit forms the centerpiece of the room. With a view of the surrounding mountain landscape, it is an invitation to enjoy some moments of stillness and relaxation. Rustic wood, muted color compositions, and details in fabric create a homely atmosphere to combine Alpine coziness with contemporary serenity. Living area, sleeping zone, and bathroom merge into a unit where movement slows down and the gaze comes to rest.
“For me the moment I entered the room was when I truly arrived. This bathtub directly at the window with a view of the Alps, the sauna next to it, the bed in front – it was just amazing. You immediately feel revived, before the stay has even begun.”

Unhurried enjoyment
A finely crafted menu with regional focus, slick presentation, and attentive, discreet serving staff ensure that the dinner is a harmonious component of the stay. For Lena the meal is not an agenda item to be ticked off, but rather a calm end to the day that is focused entirely on awareness and enjoyment.
Leaving the everyday behind
The daily rhythm takes a back seat faced with the bathroom, private sauna, and landscape views. Read, pass some time, be fully in the moment. The clean design of the rooms naturally aims to support this sense of retreat – a gentle approach with a lasting impact.
“I’m taking an unbelievable amount of inspiration away from this trip, especially from the bathroom. Not least because I’m currently planning my guest toilet and it was exciting to see the extent to which materials, faucets, and light can shape a room. The Blaue Burg combines aesthetics, nature, and ambience in such a harmonious way that you don’t just relax, you also go home feeling inspired.”
