Modern city district redefines forward-looking and sustainable living
The globally operating architecture and urbanism practice MVRDV is collaborating with other renowned architecture partners such as MVSA, Team V, Barcode, and Studioninedots to plan and build a state-of-the-art and car-free city district - “Hyde Park” – in the town of Hoofddorp, just half-an-hour’s drive from the Dutch capital Amsterdam.More than 3,800 high-quality apartments and studios are being built on the site of a former business park, 100,000 square meters in size, and the first apartment block is due for completion in 2022. The unique urban park, named after districts in London, seeks to balance out the scarcity of residential accommodation in the vicinity of Amsterdam. The architects’ aim is to create a vibrant and centrally located city district where people can live well, enjoy the company of friends, and enjoy the leafy surroundings.
Each of the total of six apartment blocks has been individually conceived and offers a range of different apartment types. All furnishings for the luxury apartments – from the bathroom through the kitchen right up to the furniture - can be selected from a program of renowned brand partners such as bulthaup or Bribus in a sampling center when the property is purchased. Duravit is also represented as a premium partner for the full range of bathroom furnishings – and even has its own showroom which realistically presents the ranges Cape Cod, Happy D.2 Plus, DuraSquare/XSquare, L-Cube, Luv, Viu/XViu and White Tulip. Also, Duravit faucets C1 and White Tulip are integrated in a cozy setting. Apartment owners can avail themselves of specialist advisors who provide planning support and will also manage the entire further implementation right up to the furnishing of the apartment.
This remarkable offering is typical of the entire concept, where residents will truly want for nothing: not only do the inhabitants of Hyde Park have their own shopping center with restaurants and grocery stores, a weekly market and bakery, care facilities and schools, doctors, sport facilities, cinema, and theater, they can even take advantage of a concierge service.
Further selling points of this extraordinary residential complex are its excellent location with good public-transport links – the capital Amsterdam is just around a 20-minute train ride away –, as well as its proximity to Schiphol airport and also to the coast.
